Kapital Boro Spring 1st Jacket
Kapital, founded in 1984, based in the famous denim capital of Japan, Kojima, a father and son project creating vintage American workwear and some of the best denim, using traditional Japanese craftsmanship, dyeing techniques and modern construction
The grail of grails when it comes to Kapital. The textile type ‘Boro’ are a class of various textiles mended or patched together, and then dyed with indigo. This came from the Edo period in Japan, where the working class depended heavily on making, dying, repairing their own clothing. Constructed mainly from cotton and linen denim with sashiko embroidery across the jacket.
The foundation of the jacket is based off the Levi’s Type 1 jacket, which has since become the blueprint for generations of jackets. It features a metal donut button front closure, cuffs and an adjustable cinched back. The lining features a patchwork digital print, seen on some of Kapital’s other garments and accessories.
